21DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING
A Journey of Freedom | January 7-27th
What: Real freedom is on the other side of self-denial. That’s how God designed us. The good life is one lived for God and others. As counter cultural as that might sound, it’s exactly what Jesus teaches when He says, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Why would this be? Well, our pride, expectations, and pervasive thoughts of ourselves make us miserable. They leave little or no space for the work of God’s Spirit in us. They leave little or no space for giving to others. In short, they leave us empty. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be this way. Freedom is available every day when we follow the way of Jesus.
We launch our annual 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting with this series. We will explore together how prayer and fasting are crucial to the radical freedom that comes from following Christ. Specifically, we will look at the role of prayer and fasting in fostering lives of self-denial, self-forgetfulness, and self-kindness. We pray that it’s a fitting way to launch into 2024 together. See you there!
