What is Journey Expedition?

Expedition at the Journey WCC exists for our students to experience real transformation in a wilderness setting.  As a wilderness ministry, Expedition utilizes God’s creation as a catalyst for a biblical change in perspective, increased appreciation for the simple things, and real intimacy with God.  Our hope is that when the trappings of our comfortable society are left at home, when physical limitations are pushed, and our students experience true adventure, they will enter into the presence of God at a whole new level.

What exactly will you do?

This summer we will offer backpacking trips from beginner to advanced, from 3 days to 5 days, for all different grade levels, shapes, and sizes.  We have custom tailored a trip to fit each group of students in our ministry and hope to provide an opportunity for every student regardless of age, gender, experience, or skill level to get into the backcountry.

For those who prefer a more ‘robust’ trip, and are seeking something a little more challenging, an advanced backpacking trip will be offered in the beautiful Indian Peaks Wilderness Aug 2-6th. Regardless of your skill level, and the trip you choose, it will be challenging, there will be adventure, and it will be fun.

We will also be offering rock climbing trips for various skill levels.  For the beginner; a day spent in clear creek canyon will offer spectacular views and great training even for those who have never climbed.  For the more advanced climber; a multi day trip to Shelf Road will happen in late July.  Three days of instruction on how to build anchors, lead routes, and practice of more advance technique.   You do not want to miss out on these opportunities. There is something for the family as well.  July 23rd-24th we will be taking a family camping trip up to Brainard lake.  More details inside the packet. Finally, an all ministry rafting trip is happening July 30th.  Shooting down the beautiful clear creek canyon in white water for half a day will be a blast for everyone.
