At Kingdom Kritters, we want to teach our children how to love each other unconditionally. Part of that, is showing them what a loving heart looks like. We all know that loving someone who is like us is easy, but it can be a little more challenging when they are different. It's our goal to teach children that God created all of us. He loves each and everyone one of us unconditionally and He wants us to love just as He loves us. Loving people can look very different. We can love them by being a friend, by praying for them, by drawing pictures for them, by financially supporting them, by donating our time and /or items to them, and in so many other ways.

With that in mind, Kingdom Kritters will be sponsoring Night Lights for most monthly service projects during the 2011-2012 school year. Night Lights is a nonprofit organization that was started in March 2011. Night Lights offers the entire family of children with special needs a night out once a month at no charge. The parents are able to go and enjoy an evening without their kids and the child with special needs, as well as their siblings, gets to come to Night Lights for a night full of fun.

Many children who have special needs are medically fragile or need specific care; therefore, cannot be left with babysitters or family members who do not have experience in dealing with their condition. In fact, many of the children who attend Night Lights have not been left with anyone before. Siblings of children with special needs often end up assisting their parents in taking care of their siblings and Night Lights give them the opportunity to just come have fun and be a kid with no added responsibilities. God created children of all types and abilities and it is Night Lights mission to love each and every one of them.

Night Lights happens the second Friday of every month right here at Water Stone from 6:30 - 10 p.m. Throughout the evening, the children enjoy various activities such as crafts, music, gross motor play, free play, dog therapy, and movies. Although Night Lights happens here at WaterStone it stands alone. It is not part of WaterStone. All volunteers are just that - they are volunteers. Along with that, Night Lights is financed through donations only.

Kingdom Kritters has sponsored a child through Compassion International. Each month a different class will be adopting Damali. They will be corresponding with her and learning more about her and her family. Ask your kids about Damali. Ask what they are doing for her and what they are learning about her and Uganda. Parents if you would like to donate money towards Damali, please give it to Rebecca or Kenya.
